Quepos and the Manuel Antonio area is considered the Sportfishing Capital of Costa Rica.  Whether you are an avid fisherman or simply a novice wanting to experience this fantastic sport you are in for a treat here.  Both Marlin and Pacific Sailfish are the predominant offshore species with lots of opportunity for Dorado, Wahoo and Yellowfin Tuna are all plentiful in these waters.  The offshore fishing is spectacular in the renownedly calm waters of Quepos and Manuel Antonio.  Offshore charters usually run 18-23 miles offshore unless the bite is on out at the furuno which is about 37 miles.  This is a great tour for families as it is a great day out on the water with the opportunity to see Sea Turtles, Whales and lots of Dolphin.  The Inshore fishing for Roosterfish which is the prize fighting fish here but you can also fish for snook, snapper, and Mackeral.  There are lots of companies in Quepos and Manuel Antonio that offer Sportfishing.  If you are going in the high season of November to April you may want to book ahead with a company that has a good reputation.  You can find reputable companies that offer charters and services to meet all anglers needs and provide English Speaking Crews. Or of course in Trip Advisor Things to do in Quepos also provides information on the most popular companies.  Check fishing reports to find the best crews that are on fish. Full Day Charters go out at 7:00 am and you are back at the pier by 4:00 in the afternoon.  Half Day charters are also offered but generally reserved for Inshore trips for the optimum of fishing times.  The green season of May through October also offers good fishing and the rates on the boats go down.
